After so many recommendations to Foveaux, we finally decided to try it out.

It certainly did not disappoint. Ambiance was fantastic, service was attentive and the food was excellent. No wonder it was awarded one chef's hat in the 2010 SMH Good Food Guide!

The restaurant was located a few minutes from Central Station on Foveaux Street with a restaurant on the top level and a cosy bar downstairs.

Upon arriving, we were greeting by a smiling waiter, ready to take us to our reserved table.

San Pellegrino - Acqua Panna (Natural Mineral Water)

Bread with butter and salt - a lovely complement to the meal, unfortunately, although, warm, it was not freshly baked or soft and chewy ... the way I like it.

Oysters with chardonnay vinegar pearls and salmon roe. The freshly shucked oysters were absolutely "melt-in-your-mouth" delicious. The chardonnay vinegar pearls combined with the salmon roe gave the texture an interesting crunch. For a supplementary $4 each, highly recommended.

The amuse bouche for the evening was a curried lentil in a yoghurt soup. It had a nice creamy texture with a wondrously smooth aftertaste. A satisfying excitement to my taste buds indeed.

Roasted veal sirloin with mushroom puree, parsnip, upland cress and thyme jus

Jindi triple cream cheesecake, grape sorbet, oatmeal and caramalised endive

Strawberry parfait, pistachio wafers, peppermint tea jelly and strawberry sorbet
